I’m Ben. I am a staff security engineer. I solve problems at the intersection of information security, identity management, infrastructure operations, and user experience. Connecting these domains is critical for high-performing organizations. I develop fast-paced, highly collaborative teams with a strong mission and intellectual curiosity while translating between senior technical staff and business leadership. I thrive managing hands-on deployment of complex technology at scale and am comfortable in environments from startups to large enterprises.

I received my PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My dissertation, Online Identifiers in Everyday Life, focused on how the confluence of technical infrastructure and policy enables and constrains social behavior.

Additional details available on my experiencepublications, and presentations pages as well as my articles. You can find me on LinkedIn or Mastodon.
